The Debatra Arena is a high-fidelity environment. Adherence to these protocols ensures that every debate remains a rigorous battle of ideas, not egos.
Arena Conduct Rules
Respect All Participants
Be respectful toward all users, regardless of their views. Personal attacks, name-calling, and offensive language are violations.
Consequence:
First offense results in a warning. Repeated offenses lead to temporary or permanent suspension.
Stay On Topic
Keep arguments relevant to the subject. Off-topic comments disrupt the tactical flow of the debate.
Consequence:
Off-topic content will be flagged and removed. Repeated offenses result in point deductions.
No Spamming or Trolling
Spamming, trolling, or posting low-effort content (memes, random phrases) is strictly prohibited.
Consequence:
Immediate removal and a heavy reputation penalty (-10 points per offense).
Use Evidence & Reasoning
While casual, users are encouraged to back up claims with evidence or logical reasoning whenever possible.
Consequence:
Lack of rigor may result in 'Needs Improvement' votes, lowering your global reputation.
One Argument Per Post
Focus each post on a single argument. This ensures clarity and precise community engagement.
Consequence:
Offending posts will be flagged for splitting into multiple precise entries.
No Multiple Accounts
Citizens are forbidden from using multiple accounts to upvote or sway their own arguments.
Consequence:
Immediate disqualification and severe reputation penalty (-50 points). Permanent ban for repeat offenders.
Voting Integrity
Vote fairly based on argument quality, not personal bias, relationships, or coordinated efforts.
Consequence:
Vote manipulation results in a reputation penalty (-20 points) and possible suspension.
Zero Plagiarism
You must not plagiarize content from other sources without proper tactical citation.
Consequence:
Immediate removal and reputation loss (-30 points). Severe repeat violations lead to exile.
Avoid Walls of Text
Keep comments concise and readable. Break long arguments into logical segments.
Consequence:
Feedback to edit or shorten posts. Repeated failure results in 'Needs Improvement' votes.
Honest Swaying
The 'Sway' feature is for genuine intellectual shifts. Misuse (e.g., swaying friends) will not be tolerated.
Consequence:
Users found misusing the sway feature lose reputation (-10 per misuse) and Arena access.
Reporting Violations
Use the flagging system for legitimate violations. Abuse of the reporting system is its own violation.
Consequence:
Misuse of flagging results in reputation loss (-10 points). Legitimate reports trigger dossier review.
General Guidelines
Open Mindset
Be Open to Changing Your Mind: Debates are meant to challenge ideas. It’s okay to be swayed by good arguments.
Positive Engagement
Stay Positive: Keep the tone constructive, even if you disagree with someone’s point of view.
Duration
Debate Duration: Casual debates are ongoing unless closed by Command. Join and leave as you wish.
