Terms of Service

By creating an account, accessing, or using Debatra (the "Platform"), you agree to be legally bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Arena Rules. These Terms constitute a binding legal agreement between you and Debatra.

We may revise these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or platform notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EEA) to use this Platform. By using it, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

To access most Platform features, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete registration information.
• Maintain the security of your password and account credentials.
• Notify us immediately at support@debatra.com of any unauthorized account access.
• Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• Not create more than one account or create an account on behalf of another person without authorization.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, contain false information, or are otherwise used inappropriately.

You may use Debatra to:

• Create, participate in, and vote on structured debates.
• Build your reputation through quality argumentation and engagement.
• Access educational content, tutorials, and platform documentation.
• Report content that violates our Community Standards or Arena Rules.

You agree not to use the Platform to:

• Post content that is illegal, defamatory, obscene, harassing, threatening, or invasive of another's privacy.
• Spread disinformation, deliberately false facts, or manipulated media without clear disclosure.
• Engage in coordinated inauthentic behavior, vote manipulation, sock-puppeting, or astroturfing.
• Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
• Scrape, data-mine, or use automated systems to access the Platform without our express written permission.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Platform or its servers.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Platform or its related systems.
• Use the Platform for commercial purposes, advertising, or spam without our written consent.
• Upload malicious code, viruses, or any other harmful software.
• Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation.

Ownership: You retain ownership of the content you post ("User Content"). By posting content, you grant Debatra a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, and display your User Content in connection with operating and improving the Platform.

Responsibility: You are solely responsible for the accuracy, legality, and appropriateness of your User Content. You represent that you have all necessary rights to grant the above license.

Platform Rights: We reserve the right to remove, edit, or restrict any User Content that violates these Terms or our Community Standards, without prior notice.

Public Nature: Debates, stances, and votes are public by default. Do not post information you wish to keep private.

All Platform content that is not User Content — including but not limited to the Debatra name, logo, design, code, algorithms, and the reputation/tier system — is the exclusive property of Debatra and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, modify, create derivative works of, or distribute any part of the Platform without our express written consent.

We respect intellectual property rights and expect users to do the same. If you believe your copyrighted work has been posted without authorization, send a DMCA takedown notice to legal@debatra.com containing:

• Your contact information and a description of the copyrighted work.
• The URL of the allegedly infringing content.
• A statement of good faith belief that the use is unauthorized.
• Your electronic or physical signature.

Repeat infringers will have their accounts terminated.

The Platform features a reputation point system, tiers, and badges. These are virtual items with no real-world monetary value. They do not constitute property and cannot be transferred, traded, or sold. We reserve the right to modify, reset, or remove reputation scores and virtual items at any time for any reason, including enforcement of these Terms.

Debatra employs a community moderation system. Reported content is reviewed by qualified moderators. Violations of these Terms or our Arena Rules may result in:

• Content removal or editing.
• Reputation point deductions.
• Temporary suspension from the Platform.
• Permanent account termination.
• Referral to law enforcement where required.

Moderation decisions are at our sole discretion. You may appeal decisions via support@debatra.com.

Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

The Platform may integrate with or link to third-party services (e.g., Google OAuth, analytics providers). Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that: (a) the Platform will be uninterrupted or error-free; (b) defects will be corrected; (c) the Platform or servers are free of viruses or harmful components; (d) the information on the Platform is complete, accurate, or current.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DEBATRA AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE PLATFORM, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall not exceed the greater of (a) $100 USD or (b) the total amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Debatra, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors from any claim, demand, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Platform; (b) your User Content; (c) your violation of these Terms; (d) your violation of any third-party rights; or (e) your violation of any applicable laws.

By You: You may delete your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting support@debatra.com.

By Us: We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for any violation of these Terms or for any other reason in our sole discretion.

Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, indemnification, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution) will survive.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the applicable jurisdiction, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If that fails, disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration, except that either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.

Class Action Waiver: You agree that any arbitration shall be conducted on an individual basis and not as a class, consolidated, or representative action.

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Arena Rules, constitute the entire agreement between you and Debatra regarding your use of the Platform and supersede all prior agreements.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
